Fine Arts Portfolio

I completed a digital portfolio of students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades learning musical concepts.   This is a new requirement for the arts teachers in Knox County, Knoxville, TN.  The multimedia videos I submitted showed the growth of the learning.

Patricia Dueber: TeacherTechGeek

Today I used my MacBook Pro to record teachers singing a parody of the Royals song using fun, school-related lyrics. I used Garage Band to record, edit, and save it, then sent it to iTunes for converting. From there I mailed the song to the teachers. It turned out great!! The quality was better than I had hoped for.

Patricia Dueber: music teacher

On Thursday all students in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade each had a music performance in the school's gym.  I am super proud of the students!!  They did a great job!

For this concert I used my MacBook Pro to play embedded mp3's from my ActivInspire flipcharts.  The sound ran to our Bose Sound Dock.  A mic in front of the Bose system projected the sound over the Gym soundsystem.  Very good results!!

Hello blog readers,

I, Patricia Dueber, have been researching some of the free web hosting sites and the tools they offer  the webmasters.  I haven't looked at Wix for  few years and it was fun to see the updated new looks to choose from.

Patricia Dueber: teacher, web design

I am a music teacher that loves tech.  Web design really interests me and I can imagine building web sites for small businesses in the future.  I see another Dueber loves tech:   Bill Dueber @ billdueber.com

Big fun in my classroom this year is a new ActivBoard and Macbook Pro laptop.  So fun to create flipcharts and embed media.

Patricia Dueber: Music students from grades 1-5 are learning to play percussion and mallet instruments.  They can play a steady beat or play to the rhythm of the words.  Guess what?  They can divide into two groups where one group plays the steady beat WHILE the other group is playing the rhythm of the words...at the same time!

To keep it challenging we can even add singing, chanting or swaying to what we are doing.  Now this is multi-tasking! !
